Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‐Habitat) holds exclusive meeting with the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization (CSU) at the UN-Habitat office in New York City. The Executive Director was accompanied by the Director of the UN-Habitat office in New York Mr. Christopher Williams.

On Wednesday December 1, 2021, Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif met with CSU President Lance Jay Brown and Chair Aliye P. Celik to discuss their ongoing relationship and how best the CSU could continue to support the UN New Urban Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the ED’s vision for a Decade of Action and plans for the World Urban Forum (WUF11) to be held in Katowice, Poland in June 2022.

The CSU shared news about its recent programs and publications and heard at length the ED ‘s hopes for UN Habitat. Issues of common concern included UN Habitat’s critical role in achieving a safe and secure urban future in the era following the UN IPPC report, how to increase awareness and active responses to the Habitat III Quito New Urban Agenda initiative, and how to mutually support upcoming events of both UN Habitat and the CSU going forward.

The CSU is thankful that the ED, based in Nairobi, took time from her very busy schedule to meet with us while in New York and discuss matters of mutual concern. We look forward to our continued close relationship.
